I was going catch more carp I was hooked. It was an obsession that I knew nothing about or how little did I know that a session was the secrete word for obsession. At the time there was an up-and-coming Magazine, and group called The Carp Society No Mobile Phones, Blogs or FB at that time.
I signed up to the organisation and received my monthly mag in the post. I was in a club with like mined specimen hunters looking the catch the biggest carp we could find. We made all our own bait from mysterious milk powders called protein baits. We went to the baking isle at the local super market for Flavors, tackle was hard to come by only using pike and barbel gear or make your own. I applied to set up a carp section group meeting monthly with the carp society based near Peterborough with a mate from Leicester.
Our first meeting was at the Three Tunns Pub Market Deeping (now burnt down and rebuilt as housing). They queued up round the road to get in we had Shelton’s Tackle on display and a guest speaker. We was up and running we changed the venue to a larger place and set up film and slide show our guest speakers to name a few, Kevin Nash, Kevin Maddocks, Tim Paisley, Les Bamford.
These guests are the best, like rock stars of Carp Fishing. They spilled the boilies, and we had more anglers in attendance yearning for more. We made a great success of these informative meetings.
